The Whistle Stop program strives to expose children to learning experiences that will develop their natural curiosity and love of learning.

Established in 1987, Whistle Stops’ Cooperative Preschool is the only family-orientated, community based preschool of its kind serving Puslinch and surrounding areas. The school is operated out of the Puslinch Community Centre and administered by the parents of children attending the school. We are licensed by the Ministry of Education – Childcare quality assurance and licensing – for 16 children, ages 2 1/2 to 5 years.

With a staff of qualified, experienced early child care providers the program offers a rich, child centered program focusing on imaginative play, creativity, and hands-on activities. The intent of the program is to create a sense of belonging and exposure to learning experiences prior to entering the primary school years.

We offer a wide range of activities to stimulate your child’s interests: stories, art, music, and creative play to name a few. Acceptance of your expertise as your child’s parent – this is a place where teachers listen to your thoughts concerning your child and work with you to meet your child’s needs.

The Whistle Stop program strives to expose children to learning experiences that will develop their natural curiosity and love to learn. Secure with a sense of belonging to a world that is interesting to them and interested in them.

Our Program

The Whistle Stop program runs Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings from 9:30 – 11:30am.

Note: Whistle Stop Preschool follows the Upper Grand District School Board school year calendar.  All PA Days, Statutory Holidays, and summer months Whistle Stop will be closed.

What Is A Co-Op?

“Cooperative” or “Co-op” defines a group of people bonded together in a joint effort.  A co-op preschool is a group of parents joining together to meet the best “Early” education goals of their young children.

A co-op differs from other schools in how it is managed. A Volunteer Parent Board of Directors meets monthly to establish policies and guidelines for the operation of the school. Parents, in a cooperative situation, have the power to change what they are not satisfied with.

Co-ops are non-profit organizations owned, maintained, and administered by the parents who enroll their children.

Our Teachers

Sandra Gunson - RECE
Program Supervisor

Hello, Whistle Stop Preschool is where I have spent Monday/ Wednesday and Friday mornings for the past 18 years and I have loved every minute of it. Before becoming a teacher at Whistle Stop like you I was a parent eager to give my children the best first learning experience possible.

As a preschool teacher, it is my responsibility to provide your children with a safe environment where they have the ability to express themselves, explore the world around them, make new friends and adjust to spending time away from Mommy and Daddy for the first time.

Creating a welcoming, engaging environment where the children spend their mornings learning while they play is our goal at Whistle Stop Preschool.

If you have questions about our program please do not hesitate to contact me.
